National Cheese Day: Cheese platter selection

According to some of my culinary English friends yesterday was National Cheese Day. Indeed a cause to celebrate. Whether it actually was or not I don't know, but it inspired me to look up some cheese related recipes and try and find a good place to buy cheese in Malmö.

Found a few recipes, see inside, and as I walked across Möllevångstorget to start buying stuff I stumbled upon Möllans Ost. Möllans Ost is a truly remarkable cheese shop. Fantastic selection presented by nice and knowledgable staff. A must visit if you ever go to Malmö.

There I found some remarkable cheeses to go with the condiment recipes I found, and also some walnuts and quince paste, making the platter perfect.

Having vacation with all the time in the world to think about the coming night's dinner and walking around buying great stuff to use is excellent. Last night I made potato frittatine with fresh horse radish, accompanied by bacon, asparagus and a sweet tomato sauce.

I would make the best house wife. Today I cleane all of Andreas' flat, did most of the laundry, changed the bed linen and had dinner ready when he got home. Didn't even get angry because he was late from work. What can I say, he is a wonderful host for my Malmö vacation.

Made pasta with Manne's special meatsauce. Best meatsauce Eric ever had, he said.

Secret is in the preparation. First saute some button shrooms with chopped onion and garlic. When the onion is translucent, transfer to a bowl and add sun dried tomatoes in oil and feta cheese. Mix to a smooth paste with a blender. Set aside.

Then fry some more chopped onions and garlic with some finely chopped red chili, transfer to large stewing pot, fry half a kilo of minced meat and season with salt and pepper. Put meat with onions in pot. Add 800 grams chopped tomatoes (2 cans), tomato pure and some soy sauce to taste. Bring to a simmer. Last add the paste and let it simmer for 15 minutes.

Serve with boiling hot spaghetti. Yum.
