Just over a week ago I wrote about the site bulletproofbaby.net (not to be confused with bulletproofbaby.com, what the hell is THAT about...), and their zany idea of developing, making and selling protective gear for infants. Now Metro picked it up, apparently they have talked to the founder, and reported it in today's Metro.
Proving that a new invention worked was a matter of life and death for Stella Stevenson. Or at least it was for her 18-month-old son when she placed him in a newly designed bullet-proof buggy and opened fire at him with an automatic rifle.
Yeah. I don't know. Take a look at that movie on the site again. Not so sure it isn't rigged, are you?
Interesting though, I get incredibly high listings on Google for "bullet proof baby". And the past two days traffic to my previous post has soared with 33%. Apparently a lot of people are interested.
Pretty uncanny and uncomfortable timing on Metro's part what with the kid who got shot in the head in Liverpool last night.
UPDATE: I thought anyone would understand that it is a spoof. It's actually a viral campaign for an upcoming movie. Well made, but fake none the less. Seriously. "My first riot helmet" and the Batcar-style functionality of the stroller sort of should give it away, and if that isn't enough, look at the shooting style of the alleged founder in the movie. She wouldn't hit a barn!
The hilarity continues though, today there was a really angry letter from a Metro reader in the paper, upset over the fact that a real baby was used to demonstrate the bullet proofness of the buggy. You got to love this quote: "I'd rather hand stitch my own bullet proof pram out of chain mail than buy her product." Click the image to see the full text.
