Squared up lunches: Just Bento

Makiko, the woman behind one of my favorite food blogs Just Hungry, recently started a new project focusing entirely on the Japanese serving style called bento. Background, quipment tips, recipes, cooking advice and guidelines all delivered in her well written, funny yet no nonsense style that I enjoy so much.

As a Swede I am of course pleasantly surprised that she recommends my favorite food container in all the world, the medium sized one from IKEA's 365+ series, as a good bento box for when on the road. They are also available in clear see through plastic, if you want to show your bento creations off to your co workers.

Second Life IRL: Everyscape

David sent me a tip about checking out a new 3D based mapping and listings service, similar to Virtual Earth and Google Street View. About three minutes later I stumbled over a link to it in my Google Reader as well, funny that.

Compared to the others this services comes with a twist, they also allow business owners to publish the interiors of their venues so you actually can see what they look like. Requires a hefty pipe, and production and updates must be pretty tedious, but quite interesting.

Now all they need to add is a visitor avatar and a chat room and they can deliver Yet Another Dating Service or Social Network. Where you actually can go on a date at a nice restaurant.

Bibimbap, great Korean chow

Since A is in Korea for a ten day holiday (and I am not), with our friend H acting as local guide supremo, I felt I had to cook up some sort of comfort food to overcome my jealousy. Especially after all the amazing photos she posted on Facebook last night. Luckily I had a Korean recipe in store that I have been meaning to try after reading about it on The Cooking Ninja a while back: Bibimbap, a messy mix of rice, meat, veggies, egg and the spicy gochujang paste.
