National Dining Rooms

Did you know there is a restaurant in the National Gallery at Trafalgar Square? I didn't. It is aptly named The National Dining Rooms, and they do afternoon tea, how civilized!
Granted, it isn't on par with high tea at The Lanesborough (amazing...) but factoring in the price difference the National Dining Rooms are alright.
Clotted cream, a fresh scone, finger sandwiches, delicious moist caek, all the usual suspects were present on the three level serving trays.
Tea was disappointing as it was only available in bags, but we suffered in silence and took great delight over the incredibly tasty jam instead.
If you are lucky enough to get a window seat you have a great view of the square, and can even catch a glimpse of whoever is making a spectacle on the Fourth Plinth at the moment.
Well worth a visit for a relaxing snack.
